The day dawned with bright sunshine which is just what you want for a school summer fete!!

I went down to the school which is yards from my house and helped my wife who incidently is the events coordinator to get the big gate banner put up and to stake my claim on a couple of tables for the stage.

I left her and my daughter team member Tammy and the PTA up to their eyes in the preparation and returned home to get myself sorted and wait for team member “Flyboy to arrive with the sound and a few fete bits.

We returned to find the stage had arrived (40’ curtain sided trailer) and we got on with the job of getting set up and sorted.

On the button of 12:05pm I opened the fete with my thunderous fete jingle and quickly got into the vibe of the day making all the usual announcements that have to be made at these types of events.

The arena entertainment started with a re-enactment group called “Warts & All” who proceeded to batter each other with various evil looking weaponry and I made a huge mistake by saying to them during my commentary that they should “pick on someone their own size” which prompted them to all approach the stage with swords drawn growling at me!!!

Next in the arena was The Obstacle Races which was hysterical especially the adult’s race.

After the arena being cleared of debris from the races it was time for The Bumble ‘B’ Roadshow to unleash our little section of chaos which went down amazingly as ever with a mixed crowd of pupils and parents all having a lot of fun.

Next was a return of the “Warts & All” for their second slot and it was scarier that the first one, how on earth nobody ended up dead was amazing but they were really good.

Everyone was then called to the arena for the auction which always goes very well and I love doing all that calling stuff.

The penultimate event in the arena was the school “Talent Show Final” I had been to the school and had auditioned 10 acts and had to narrow it down to 5 for the final.

All the participants were all very nervous but all did very well.

The time was almost upon us to say good bye for another year but we had the raffle and competition results which saw several people walking away with some seriously great prizes.

And then it was all over, months of planning all over in 4 hours!!!

Next years plans have already started and it is shaping up to be a mega event!!!

Can not wait.
